The Alaska Moose Federation welcomes our first photo contestant for the 2005-2006 contest!  We thank Rosamund Parkinson for a set of wonderful photos of this beautiful moose cow she found to be quite tolerant of her presence.

Thank you Rosamund, for such a warm story of her experience with this moose! Submission Date: 1/15/06

I was walking in the mountains in southern Quebec near the Vermont border and happened upon this wonderful moose that allowed me to sit with her, photograph her and walk along
behind her for a total of about 45 minutes. She was still happily munching on the tree branches
when I waved good-bye to her. I thought she was incredibly intelligent to be hanging out in the
area that was designated the "no hunting zone" this season.

I walked down the mountain through the brush for about 10 minutes. When I finally reached the
road, the same moose was standing there waiting for me!!!!! I couldn't believe how she had followed
me, actually passed me and was standing there in front of me again. She had made absolutely no noise
in the leaves and I was totally unaware of her moving in the same direction as me. The 3rd photo
is of her in the middle of the road.

It was a delightful experience and I am thankful that Millie the moose was not aggressive in anyway.

Just thought I would share the story and photos with the moose website.

Thanks
